The snow is swirling outside. Happy to not be on the road today, the soft, white landscape illuminating my cozy corner of the house. Recent holiday travel was a reminder to slow down and savor the beauty around me, branches stark against the whiteness of the new-fallen snow, remote sugar houses tucked into the woods, roof lines suddenly defined. The dusky late afternoon grays, whites, browns and greens of the winter hills interrupted only by the occasional glow of the gaudy colors and the bright white lights of seasonal decorations.
