Yesterday, a drive west and north through Vermont. A sunny day, the sky a bright blue. A landscape dramatically altered by the floodwaters of Irene – repair and re-construction efforts in full swing.
At the higher elevations, a touch of fall color on the lush green rolling hills. A few minor detours, short stretches on gravel roads and a couple of pauses at temporary single lane bridges, a gentle reminder to slow down and drive cautiously. Clear signs that Vermont is open for business this upcoming foliage season, with many areas unaffected by the rage of the storm. The communities affected are resuming activity, working together to re-build and restore. Vermont is as beautiful and as strong as ever.
