Jet-lagged and up early, watching night turn to day, the light diffused, a soft entry into a sunlit day. Recent Denmark travels still fresh in my mind.
Nestled into the southern tip of the Funen archipelago, Svendborg is the largest town in the area. Over 750 years old, this medieval market town center is brimming with shops, cafes and bakeries. Narrow cobbled streets dip downhill to a bustling harbor with bus and train stations nearby. Svendborg’s market, milling, ship-building and maritime history are still in evidence alongside modern-day tourist activity.
My mother’s hometown, I hope to return to Svendborg again before too long.
